If you are booking a launch, training day or workshop for 60 to 100 people in Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya, the room costs RM1,500 to RM2,200 for a half day at an independent hall or coworking event space, RM4,800 and up at Colony's KL Eco City lounge with a four-hour minimum, and RM7,400 for a weekday half day at a Mont Kiara rooftop. Hotels price per head instead, at RM185 to RM220 a person, which puts an 80-pax seminar around RM15,000 before extras.
This post compares 10 venues across KL and PJ, including our own two halls. Every entry names a real trade-off, and an unpublished figure is marked price on request, never guessed.

The 10 venues, one by one
1. Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Concorde on Jalan Sultan Ismail publishes a 2026 seminar package: RM185 nett a person for a half day, RM220 for a full day, covering the room, projector, PA with one wired mic, WiFi, coffee breaks, lunch on the full day, and RM12 flat-rate parking. Its seven Gallery rooms take 30 to 100 in theatre layout and Concorde V takes 150. Per-head pricing is easy to budget and includes food. The trade-off is that 80 people for a morning is RM14,800, and the page does not state a minimum pax.
2. Komune, Wisma UOA II, KLCC
Komune's KLCC floor has three bookable studios: Studio 1 seats 100 theatre or 56 classroom, Studio 3 seats 80 theatre. Projector, screen, sound, tables and chairs come with the room, you get a free hour each side for setup and tear-down, and catering goes through their in-house partner. Price on request. The trade-off is hours: the events page lists Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, so a weekend or evening event is outside the published window.
3. Cotta rooftop, Mont Kiara
Cotta is a rooftop cafe on top of Verve Shops in Mont Kiara, and it prints its rates. The whole venue seats 62, at RM7,400 for a weekday half day or RM10,400 for a full day, rising to RM10,400 and RM14,600 on weekends and public holidays; half of the space seats 34 at RM3,700 and up. Catering is in-house at RM125 a head and is deducted from the rental, with five menu items, one drink a person and free corkage, and covered parking starts at RM1.20 for the first hour. The trade-off is that a projector (RM320 a day) and PA (RM250 a day) are add-ons, and 62 is the hard ceiling.

4. Colony, KL Eco City
Colony's KL Eco City lounge is a Level 20 penthouse next to Mid Valley, 4,000 sq ft for 40 to 100 guests, from RM4,800 with a four-hour minimum that includes setup and tear-down; extensions are RM800 an hour and the deposit is 15% of the total or RM1,000, whichever is higher. WiFi, a built-in AV system, wireless mics, a portable stage and access to their F&B partners are in the price. The trade-off is the building car park, which is not complimentary, and the four-hour floor makes a short evening event dear.
5. SkyArk Event Spaces, Taman Wahyu
SkyArk is a purpose-built event hall in Taman Wahyu, north KL. For this headcount the SkyLuxe Hall takes 70 theatre or 50 banquet, and the Rustiq Hall takes 100 in classroom layout. Rental includes sound and lighting, dressed tables and chairs, a stage, projectors or LED, a technician, and setup and cleanup, which is rare at this level, with in-house catering and external caterers allowed. Price on request, and the location is a drive for anyone coming from PJ or the south.
6. Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Jalil
The hotel option in the Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling area with a room in this band. Gasing 1 and 2 combine into 646 sq ft for 100 theatre, 80 banquet or 50 classroom, and there is a rooftop green space for 80. Price on request, and parking is paid. The trade-off is that hotel rooms at this size come bundled with hotel F&B, so expect the per-head structure you see at Concorde rather than a room-only rate.
7. WORQ Subang, UOA Business Park
The Subang full hall is 1,500 sq ft for 100 theatre or 40 classroom at RM2,200 for a five-hour half day and RM3,800 for a full day; the front hall alone takes 80 theatre at RM1,600 and RM2,800. Inclusions: WiFi, projector, screen, mics, furniture, on-site support, coffee and tea, with pantry service at RM5 a head. The trade-off is that classroom layout drops the room to 40.
8. AstraNova PJ LED Event Space
AstraNova is a fifth-floor studio in 10 Boulevard off the LDP with a 4m by 2.2m LED wall, a PA with four handheld mics, a small stage and a VIP room. It takes 50 to 100 pax, and the pricing is plain: RM1,500 for eight weekday hours, RM1,800 on weekends, RM200 an extra hour, RM150 cleaning if food is served. Covered basement parking is a real advantage in PJ. The trade-off is catering: they do not provide it, you bring your own.
9. SVOFO, Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara
SVOFO runs training rooms in Sunway Nexis with a hall for 80 to 100 theatre or 50 to 80 classroom. Rates are RM450 an hour, half day from RM1,500, full day RM2,000, with projector, PA, wireless mic, 1 Gbps WiFi and whiteboards included, plus basement parking. Catering is optional and per head: morning tea RM15, bento RM18 to RM25, buffet RM30 to RM50. The trade-off is that it is a training-room product, so a launch that needs staging and lighting will feel the ceiling.

10. Sandbox Space, Sri Petaling and Bandar Sunway
Our two halls. Sri Petaling is a shophouse hall in south KL for 30 to 60 pax at RM450 an hour, RM1,250 for three hours, RM1,850 for five or RM2,850 for the day, with a multi-storey car park directly in front. Bandar Sunway is the bigger room, 40 to 100 pax at RM550 an hour, RM1,500 for three hours, RM2,200 for five or RM3,200 for the day, five minutes from Sunway University and Monash, with street parking that is free on weekends and at night. Both include the projector or screen, PA, wireless mics, WiFi 7, furniture and air conditioning, set to your floor plan before doors open, and we arrange catering through a halal-certified partner kitchen from about RM20 a head. The fine print is on our event space page: RM300 for outside caterers (waived for light refreshments), RM150 cleaning when food is involved, RM150 outside 9am to 6pm, and a 50% deposit.
The honest trade-offs: Sri Petaling tops out at 60, so 80 people means Sunway; tear-down is your team's job; and neither hall has a hotel staging rig, so a black-tie gala belongs elsewhere. The Bandar Sunway branch page has the address and hours, or send us your date and headcount and Sunny will reply with a written, itemised quote.

How to choose, from someone who runs two of these rooms
Count by layout, not by the headline number. The biggest figure is always theatre seating. Add tables and the room shrinks: WORQ Subang goes from 100 to 40, Hyatt's Gasing rooms from 100 to 50. Decide the format first.
Ask the catering questions before the price. Can I bring my own caterer, what does that cost, and is there a cleaning fee? Hotels and Cotta bundle food per head; independent halls charge RM150 to RM300 in surcharges instead.
Parking decides whether people arrive on time. In PJ, ask whether it is covered and what it costs at night. In KL city, ask what the building charges and put the nearest rail station in the invite.
Check what "AV included" means. A projector, a PA and two mics cover a talk. A launch with video and a live stream needs an LED wall (AstraNova, SkyArk) or a technician.
Timing and deposits. Komune lists weekdays 9am to 6pm, we add RM150 out of hours, and weekend rates are higher at AstraNova and Cotta. A half day is usually four or five hours including setup and tear-down. Deposits run 15% to 50%; read the refund line before you pay. Ours is a full refund within 72 hours of payment if the event is at least seven days away.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent an event space for 80 people in KL or PJ?
Based on rates published on 14 September 2026: RM1,500 to RM2,200 for a half day at an independent hall or coworking venue (Sandbox Bandar Sunway RM1,500 for three hours, AstraNova RM1,500 for eight weekday hours, WORQ RM2,200), from RM4,800 for a four-hour minimum at Colony, and around RM14,800 for a hotel half day at RM185 a head.
Is a hotel function room or a coworking hall cheaper for 60 to 100 pax?
For the room alone, the hall is far cheaper because hotels price per person with food built in. Add catering and the gap narrows: a half day at Sandbox Sunway with bento for 80 is roughly RM1,500 plus about RM1,600 in food and RM150 cleaning, still well under the hotel package, though without hotel service staff. The longer argument is in our piece on why coworking halls beat hotel function rooms under 100 pax.
Can I bring my own food to an event space in KL?
Usually yes, with conditions. Sandbox charges RM300 for outside caterers (waived for light refreshments) plus RM150 cleaning. AstraNova has no catering, so you bring your own, with the same RM150 cleaning fee. SkyArk allows external caterers. Hotels generally do not allow outside food.
How far ahead should I book, and what deposit is normal?
For a weekday event, two to four weeks is usually enough at independent halls and coworking venues; weekends, month-ends and December fill earlier. Deposits run from 15% (Colony, minimum RM1,000) to 50% (Sandbox); hotels ask for a signed contract and a deposit against the per-head total.
What is included in the rental, and what usually costs extra?
Included almost everywhere: tables, chairs, a projector or screen, a PA, one or two microphones, WiFi and air conditioning in standard hours. Usually extra: catering, cleaning when food is served, extra hours (RM200 at AstraNova, from RM800 at Colony), LED walls, technicians, and tear-down, which at Sandbox is the host's job.
